• Maddie Srivastava

    CEO and Executive Chairman

    Maddie has around 24 years of global experience in business development, M&A, corporate strategy, principal investment and financing. He has raised and deployed multi-billion dollars across a breadth of geographies and commodities. He joined AMED Funds in 2016 and is responsible for sourcing, structuring and executing deals and managing all aspects of mining investment portfolio. Previously, he has worked for industry leaders like Rio Tinto, Nedbank, and GE Capital in various strategy and transactional roles.

    He is an engineer, B.Tech with Honours, by qualification and has an MBA degree from INSEAD business school, France.

  • Iain Plews

    Country Manager

    Iain, currently based out of Maputo, has over 40 years exploration and mining experience in Africa, holding senior positions with Anglo American Corporation, Ashanti Goldfields, ITM  Corporation, Reunion Mining and Takoradi Gold NL. He has operated in over a dozen countries in sub-Saharan Africa exploring for a range of  commodities.

    He has worked closely with Baobab Steel from initial exploration to the successful completion of its definitive feasibility study.

  • Fátima Sing Sang Neto

    Finance and Administration Manager

    She is based out of Maputo and has joined Baobab Resources in 2013. Fatima is responsible for local finance, banking, and HR activities.

    Prior to Baobab, Fatima had worked for 6 years as Administrative and Finance Manager at Grindrod/Maputo Car Terminal Lda and TORA Group and for 7 years in audit and accounting at KPMG Auditors and Consultants in Mozambique.

    Fatima graduated with an Honours degree in Business Management from the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane.

  • José Telles João Gomes Denguenha

    Social and Environmental Officer

    Telles is based out of Tete and has joined Baobab Resources in 2014. His primary responsibility include local Social Development for Communities.

    Prior to Baobab, he had worked for 7 years as Senior Geology and Mining Technician for Gondwana, a well known local geology and mining consultancy, in Mozambique.

    Telles graduated with an Honours Degree in Public Administration Management from the Universidade Católica de Moçambique.

  • Rudolph de Bruin

    Non-Exec DIRECTOR

    A lawyer by training, Rudolph practiced as an advocate at the Pretoria Bar from 1977 to 1989. Post 1989 he has concentrated on finding, acquiring and developing mineral exploration and mining projects in various African countries. He was a founding member of the Platmin group, where he  focused on building Platmin into a credible platinum producer and listing it on the Toronto Stock Exchange. After selling his Platmin interest in 2006, he also co-founded the Sephaku Group, where he initiated the acquisition of Sephaku’s flagship limestone and other projects. Rudolph was appointed  Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of the Company on 26 April 2013. Rudolph is one of the founding partners of Amed Funds.

  • Dr David Twist

    Non-Exec DIRECTOR

    David is a PhD geologist and business man with more than 30 years’ experience in mineral research and exploration. He has been involved in multi-commodity target generation, implementation and management of exploration programmes, feasibility studies, mining and deal-making spending his entire career in Africa.

    David was a founding a director of Platmin, Taung Gold, Sephaku Holdings and other companies. He is co-founder of African Minerals Exploration and Development SICAR, a private equity fund focused on brownfields exploration in Africa.

  • Carlo Baravalle

    Non-Exec DIRECTOR

    After 4 years’ experience in finance with an Italian fashion group, GFT, Carlo completed his BA in economics with an MBA at INSEAD. He then spent several years in strategic consulting, working on global assignments for many large French conglomerates between Paris and the USA. He then moved to the telecoms industry, firstly with BT, starting new ventures outside the UK, then at SBW Warburg as a Director of the Corporate Finance Telecoms team and finally with a senior global position at Lucent Technologies. At this point in his career he started getting involved with

    Private Equity industry: first taking a senior assignment with a company owned by Apax Partners as MD International and Main Board Member at The Exchange FS, and later as Senior Vice-President for EMEA, Asia and LatAm for LCC, a telecoms engineering company initially invested by the Carlyle Group. In 2006 he cofounded NCP, a private equity fund of funds aimed mainly at Italian institutional investors, focussed on mid-cap buyout funds and co-investments globally. Finally in 2011 he co-founded AMED Funds.

  • Deon van der Mescht

    Non-Exec DIRECTOR

    Deon, a mining engineer, has over 35 years experience in the mining industry of which 25 years were in senior executive roles in predominantly listed companies. These include companies listed on the JSE, Nasdaq, NYSE, and TSX. During his tenure as Senior Executive of various companies Deon gained extensive experience in public equity raising, company restructuring and optimization, as well as management of large capital projects in South Africa, Australia and Zambia. He has also been involved in advisory roles for companies on organizational structure, business optimization and strategy.
